Last month some of the RAB Team supported Project Groundwater at a series of community engagement events in Oxford, Chesham and Luton. These events were set-up to provide information on the project and promote Property Flood Resilience (PFR) measures to the three communities.
More than 60 people attended the events across the three days, including local residents, parish councillors and representatives from local authorities. We also welcomed a number of individuals whose properties had been selected to receive funded PFR measures through the project, following completion of the initial PFR surveys by RAB in 2025.

Visitors had the opportunity to explore the FloodPod (Oxford and Chesham), and the Flood Mobile (Luton), and to see examples of PFR products, and speak with specialists including Mary Long-Dhonau OBE (“Flood Mary”) and the RAB Consultants team. The events were designed to provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the different types of PFR measures available to protect their homes against flooding, the bespoke considerations when it comes to managing groundwater flood risks, and to provide guidance on the next steps for those residents who will be offered funded measures.
Next Stages
RAB are now progressing into the next phase of the project, working alongside Apex Flood Solutions who have recently been appointed to develop detailed design proposals and undertake the installation of measures at up to 30 properties across the nine pilot communities. Installations are expected to progress through Summer 2026.
Through our role on the Project, RAB will be developing new advice and guidance to help manage groundwater flood impacts, and there remains plenty more we plan to achieve before the innovation project ends in March 2027.
It was fantastic to speak with so many members of the communities, share knowledge about flooding, and support residents in improving their preparedness and resilience of their homes. We look forward to delivering the next stage of the project with Apex Flood Solutions.
