Celebration as BogLIFE Bird Hide Officially Opened
Several of the RAB team were proud to be invited to the official opening of the Charles Sinker Fields bird hide, part of the March Mosses BogLIFE project in Shropshire.
RAB are one of the delivery partners for the project, working collaboratively with Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England, and contractor WM Longreach. The aim of BogLIFE has been to restore the natural peatbog in the area, thereby increasing habitat and carbon capture. The creation of a wetland area has also provided a place for bird watchers.
The recent opening of a brand new wheelchair accessible bird hide at Charles Sinker Fields, close to Whixall, represented the latest phase in the ongoing five year BogLIFE project, which has received widespread praise and also won several national awards (see RAB post from May 2022).
Representatives from all four of the delivery partners attended the event, along with volunteers and other invited guests. In addition to the official opening, there where talks on the BogLIFE project and the wider goals, a buffet, a ribbon cutting, A VR flight over the mosses and photographs.
Further information on the BogLIFE project and the new bird hide can be found on both the Shropshire Wildlife Trust website and the Natural England website.
