“Please pass on our enormous thanks to your team for getting stuck in and enhancing the Moon Meadow in Beacon Park, we hope everyone wasn’t aching too much the next day!”
This week, colleagues from across RAB Consultants’ Resilience, Flood Risk and Drainage and Admin teams came together for a volunteering day dedicated to supporting local biodiversity in Lichfield’s Beacon Park’s Moon Meadow; a unique wildlife conservation area carefully managed to protect species that thrive in low‑light environments.

The Moon Meadow is intentionally kept free from artificial lighting to create an ideal habitat for moths. These moths, in turn, play a vital role in the wider ecosystem, supporting birds, bats, and other wildlife that depend on them for food. By helping to maintain this delicate environment, the team contributed directly to strengthening the local ecological network.
Fuelled by plenty of coffee and biscuits (with thanks to Lichfield District Council ) we got to work on removing invasive weeds, clearing overgrowth, and replanting native British species selected to encourage a richer and more resilient biodiversity profile. These plants will help sustain the meadow’s moth population and provide improved foraging opportunities for the species that rely on them.
The day also offered an opportunity for staff from different parts of the business to work side by side, strengthen cross‑team relationships and enjoy a beautiful day outdoors!
This volunteering effort forms part of RAB Consultants’ ongoing commitment to social value; supporting communities, improving local environments, and contributing positively to the places where we live and work.
If you’re local to the area, why not pop down and take a walk through the beautiful Moon Meadow?
