RAB Providing Expertise for BogLIFE Project in Shropshire

The team at RAB have recently been working on the exciting BogLIFE Project at Marshes Mosses in Shropshire in conjunction with Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England, and the contractor WM Longreach. (https://www.shropshirewildlifetrust.org.uk/marches-mosses-boglife)

The aim of BogLIFE is to restore the natural peatbog in the area, thereby increasing habitat and carbon capture. The creation of a wetland area will also provide a place for bird watchers.

The initial phase involved preparing the site, creating access, and extracting the clay to form the bunds. This also involved installing inlets and outlets for the fields.

Ongoing work includes marking out the exclusion zones for the badger sets and potential bat nesting sites. Then settling out the vegetation clearance route for Natural England volunteers to work their way through.
