It is our Birthday! We are 15 this month!

We are not too sure where the time has gone, but this month we are celebrating our 15th birthday here at RAB Consultants!

The business was established in Lichfield, Staffordshire in 2006 by Russell Burton. His early career as a Flood Risk Engineer and Incident Manager included work during and after the major floods of Easter 1998 and Autumn 2000. First-hand incident experience of Foot & Mouth Disease, the fuel strike, and the millennium bug convinced Russell of the opportunity to help businesses and organisations reduce risk and increase resilience.

Bryan Nelson shared that vision and joined the Management team as Resilience Director in 2008, bringing his expertise in flood forecasting & warning, as well as a new team and office in Durham.

RAB Consultants continued to grow and diversify the range and location of services, opening offices in Bedford and Stirling in 2012 and 2016 respectively. In 2016, its Quality Management System was certified by BSI to ISO 9001:2015.

Growth has continued over the last five years and the business now boasts a client base throughout the UK as well as recent projects in Spain, Nepal and New Zealand.

Russell is naturally proud to of what has been achieved by the team over the past 15 years: “It has been a fantastic journey, and one that ironically I would have struggled to forecast all those years ago! The world is ever changing, and businesses and organisations need to have systems in place so that they can adapt and manage disruption.

“This started out with flooding, but RAB has evolved into so much more. The recent COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the need to plan for disruption, and we had already put processes and procedures in place with many clients for exactly this type of scenario. We also worked with others to rapidly implement solutions and even provided support resources.”

Despite the rapid growth Russell has focused on retaining the local feel to RAB, which is reflected in the distribution of offices across the UK: “We work in close collaboration with clients based on their bespoke needs and resources. This invariably delivers the best outcomes and evolves into long-standing partnerships based on trust and credibility.”
